The journey with California’s new grapes has been nothing shy of epic thus far and all signs point to more and more wines like these being imagined and executed beautifully with every harvest season. What drives this forward is consumers like you and your thirst for knowledge, your want for something new. Thoughtfully curated wine lists in a good restaurant are always excited to boast a California creation that stands out from the pack, and wine shops are equally eager to recommend something to customers that they’ll always remember to be unique.
These wines are making waves in all the right places for those that are paying attention, but clearly there is still a long way to go until we can confidently say that our homegrown grape varietal landscape is truly a diversified portfolio. Keep an eye out for their collective progress as the number of Rebel vines are being planted out there are increasing and the number of producers that are reshaping what California wine really tastes like are continuing to do so… just like the bunch of ragtag rebels that we know them to be (and love dearly them for.)
Featured this month: Sparkling! Yet another wine category on the rise in all the right ways in California – be it Pét-Nat or traditional. Combine that with the expressions of Rebel Grapes such as these and we are talking about a perfect partnership of pearlage!
Please enjoy this holiday season safely and a big bubbly cheers to you and yours.
